Jul 3. London to Vancouver🇬🇧

Well things went perfectly this morning until we arrived at Terminal One at Charles de Gaulle. As we waved goodbye to our lovely cab driver and entered the terminal we realized that there was no British Airways. Oops. We needed terminal Two. Free shuttle, descend a level if you please. Now you would think that terminal 2 would come after terminal 1. Not at this airport. Terminal three is between 1 & 2. Go figure. So off we went only to find that our flight was delayed. Not a problem. We had a 3 hour layover at Heathrow anyway. Flight left nearly an hour late. Less time to wait in London right? Well almost. We navigated Heathrow again and we were at the right terminal only this time we had to shuttle to our gate. Our flight is called, we all line up and then it is called off! Problem with the air conditioning and it is 33C on board. Now we waited another hour and finally we were called again. This time they called for silver, platinum and gold guests first. Then 1 star, 2 star and 3 star guests. Then millennium, selenium, and uranium guests next and then of course their preferred guests , families with kids, the less ambulatory, rows 512 to 783! No old farts! Their suggestion box will be crammed tomorrow! The plane was steamy but once we got going it cooled off to slightly above freezing. The flight went well but our adventures have not ended. We were one of the first through customs then stood around the baggage carousel in YVR eyes glazing over from sleep deprivation waiting and waiting. By the time the bowels of the airport stopped regurgitating bags we looked over at the euphemistically called Baggage Enquiries to see about 30 people already in line. We had not put our SIM cards back in our cell phones so had not got the text from BA telling us our luggage didn't arrive with the plane. It seems that all the folks missing luggage were on connecting flights into Heathrow, not all from Paris though. By the time we got through that tired cranky crowd (that was just a few of us 😁) we had missed the last ferry. So we are staying at the Sheridan in Richmond compliments of BA. We consider ourselves lucky to get a room this close to the airport as it is an American long weekend and FIFA women's World Cup finals are this weekend so there are few rooms left in the city. As luck would have it we are in a handicapped room (probably not politically correct). It is huge, tub is low with hand rails galore. Bathroom is oversize with a sitz chair in it. We could dance if we hadn't been awake for 24 hours! We are dressed for 38 degree temps and have no sweaters or jackets to wear on the ferry his morning. Can't find my house keys either! Apparently our baggage will arrive at 2:30 today, get sent to the island by Air Canada (now there might be another story) and a courier should contact us for delivery. It's not over yet! We are going down to have a really nice breakfast on BA since we were too tired to take advantage of their generous meal allowance last night.
